Accessibility

www.southtyneside.info

We have tried to make this site as accessible as possible.

People with sensory and physical impairments

The Disability Discrimination Act (1995) gives disabled people important rights of access to everyday services that others take for granted.

We have designed to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines which allow people using special access software and hardware (such as screen readers for visually impaired people) to use the site.

We have made every effort to make the text and graphics legible. We have avoided colour combinations that may confuse people with colour blindness. Use your Browser's options to increase and decrease the size of the text to suit you.

We have included access keys to allow people with limited physical capabilities to use the site more easily.

Browsers and computer equipment

We have tested the site in a number of different browsers and it is suitable for use with Internet Explorer and Netscape (Versions 3 and above), Firefox and Opera. If you have old equipment and a slow Modem you can use the text only version of the site to ensure pages arrive quickly.

Language

We have tried to make the information on this site easy to understand. We have developed sections of the site in different languages.

If you have difficulty reading printed or on-screen text you can use Browsealoud. Browsealoud software speech enables website content. The software is free to download and it will assist in the navigation of this site.
